Progress update

Work underway

DC Power

Battery charger replacement. Sort out battery connections so that switches agree (Port, Starboard, House banks).

Propulsion

Port engine low compression issue being tended to by mechanic Race Turner. The cylinder head is off and diagnosis is a bent exhaust valve causing cylinder #5 compression issue. This is great news compared to the other possibilities.

Exhaust valve ever so slightly bent does not seat completely.

Starboard engine turbocharger to be removed shortly for rebuild.
Replace fuel fill hoses while turbochargers are out of the way.
Minor crack - could last another 10 years but convenient to replace now.

Fuel fill hose. Filler above, tank ahead.

Shaft seals replaced.
Drip-less shaft seal.

Safety

Remove propane tank for re-certification.

Aft bilge pumps replaced and rewired. Mid ship automatic pump switch still needs replaced.
Johnson pumps corroded internally to the point of splitting their cases.
Wrong type of connectors - not heat shrink.

Wrong type of wire (non-tinned).

New wire and proper connectors. Transom visible before core repair work started.
Seawater intake hose replacement.
Bad hose. Funky copper fitting to discard.

Badly deteriorated hose.

Hull integrity and corrosion protection

Rocky Pointe continues work on the transom. All of the fittings have been removed and core samples taken. Diagnosis is wet and slightly spongy core. Going ahead with core replacement instead of "drying" so we won't have to worry about this again. Genset has been removed to ease access for the core replacement from the interior. Genset is currently on my garage floor and needs most of the sound isolation enclosure replaced along with various hoses.
Transom with fittings removed - Prop shafts slid aft for seal replacement.

Anode plate off of transom - top view.

Transom anode front view.

Trim tab anode.

Shaft anode.

Appearance

Buffed a hull section to try out my new buffer and compound. Happy with the effort level required and result. Before and after pictures.
Before - black scuffs are fender material transferred to fiberglass. In this picture the boot stripe section is already buffed.

After - had to literally scrape some of the fender material off.

After - Trees in the reflection. Note fender to be discarded. All will be replaced in the coming months.
